‘Animalia’ spotlights realism drawings that represent the entanglement between different natural life forms, familiarizing shared experiences within the natural condition. The artists’ immersion of human life within the natural world, detailing specific dynamics between species and objects, reveal tendencies towards connection, conflict, growth, and adaptation. This collection illustrates the variability of human experience through diverse subjects, some personified, others literal. The human, as an animal, becomes situated within other life forms. 

‘Animalia’ also represents the breadth of Tania Babic's drawing practice, where traditional drawing practices record vivid implied textures and autobiographical impressions. 

Tania Babic is an emerging neurodivergent artist living and creating in Wadawurrung/Ballarat, Victoria. Her drawings explore the intersection between the human condition and natural world through the intricate depiction of diverse lifeforms and constructed elements. She specialises in two-dimensional and mostly monochrome realism drawings. Her practice is evolving while she studies a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT University as a first-year student. 

Her drawings have exhibited locally, interstate and nationally, such as in nationally recognised finalist exhibitions including the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award and the Kedumba Drawing Award. She is a recipient of several awards focusing on conservation and the environment, such as the 2025 Remagine Youth Art Prize. Some academic artistic achievements include recieving a VCE Arts Acquisition Award (2023) and being selected for the Next Gen 2024 exhibition at the Ballarat Art Gallery.
