Contemporary textile artists participated in the 6th Biennial Golden Textures Contemporary Art Quilt Exhibition. One quilt was selected for the Central Goldfields Art Gallery’s permanent collection and the winner received $3,000. The Golden Textures Award celebrates the region’s long connection with textiles.
An exhibition showcasing the artwork of VCE Art and Design students from Maryborough Education Centre and Highview College. Students have used a wide range of mediums and explored many topics to produce interesting and unique art works, we are proud to celebrate and support the creativity of these students and provide them a venue to display their work to the public.
The Central Goldfields Art Gallery is located in the heart of Central Victoria − in Maryborough, Victoria. Central Goldfields Shire Council acknowledges and extends appreciation for the Dja Dja Wurrung People, the Traditional Owners of the land that we are on. We pay our respects to leaders and Elder’s past, present and emerging for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of all Dja Dja Wurrung People. We express our gratitude in the sharing of this land, our sorrow for the personal, spiritual and cultural costs of that sharing and our hope that we may walk forward together in harmony and in the spirit of healing. Located in the historic former Fire Station building built in 1861, the Gallery was opened in 1996. Featuring a diverse program of regularly changing exhibitions, including works from the permanent collection, curated exhibitions and touring exhibitions. The Gallery is owned and operated by the Central Goldfields Shire Council. The Gallery is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am-4pm. Free Entry.
